Butts Go Here

The bus stop loomed only 100 meters ahead of them, each step was bringing them further and further out of the park where he had resolved to ask Julie Ann to marry him, and every spot he had anticipated popping the question hadn’t worked, for a variety of reasons, including almost getting attacked by geese. So finally, with the ring burning a hole in his pocket, he sat her down on a bench in front of a bathroom and just asked. And she said yes. And then they laughed, because written on the bench, the bench they would forever remember in the telling and retelling of the story of how he proposed, were the words “butts go here”. Read more
Camping
» Posted on July 19, 2010
I am not much of a camper, as you probably already know. I have several specific camping dislikes including but not limited to, the sound of tent canvas rubbing against other tent canvas, the taste of bug spray on my lips, dirt under my nails, using a toilet that goes down ten feet, using a toilet that I am convinced has toilet snakes, using a toilet that has splatters of someone elses number two on the walls, and bugs.
Sports and How I Don’t Know About Them
» Posted on July 9, 2010
I am not a sports whiz. At all. Need an example? While I was in downtown Portland with my brother and our friend Brian, we saw a sign for The Rose Garden and I said I thought it would be nice if we could do some photos there, what with all the roses, it must be very pretty. They both laughed incredulously and said it wasn’t really a rose garden, it was a sports venue. Where the Trail Blazers play. “Ah yes,” I said, “the Trail Blazers. I love it when they win at the sport that they play..”
There are two very important exceptions to my lack of knowledge. The first being the Oakland A’s between the years 1986 and 1989. I can rattle off important sounding names like Walt Weiss, Jose Conseco, Mark Maquire, Ricky Henderson and Dennis Eckersly thanks to the free tickets we earned by reading a select number of books from the book mobile that came around once a month and parked itself close to our bus stop. Yes the seats were in the nosebleed section and yes we had to smuggle in our own snacks, but we could still see Ricky Henderson steal a base from our aerial vantage point.
The second exception of course are sports players that have made appearances on Saturday Night Live, in particular Payton Manning (you must must must watch this clip ) and Lebron James. I have been reading a lot in the way of angry facebook status updates and news articles lately about the latter these days, and while I won’t even pretend to know or care what everyone is upset about, I will tell you one thing, Lebron James is hilarious and that is all I really want to know.
Unrelated to my limited understanding of sports related topics, here are some pictures I snapped of Paige on our way to San Diego last May. She was dancing to the Black Eyed Peas and was begging me to put out a bowl so other gas station patrons could throw in coins if they really liked her “moves”. She cracks me up!!

Stinky and Sweet Eyeball tie the knot!
» Posted on July 7, 2010
Or at least that is how they were introduced to me by their very adorable nieces. Danny is Stinky Eyeball and of course, Emily is Sweet Eyeball. They each are younger siblings in very large families, and I can honestly say I have never seen a couple more adored by so many kids!!
Danny and Emily, thank you so much for letting me hang out with you on your wedding day, in your hometown of Portland. It was a real treat for me to visit, I loved it!
The girls were so excited for Stinky Eyeball come out of the temple that they let him use them for weights!
It threatened to rain all day but we stayed dry. We did get a rainbow out of all the damp weather, so that was a great omen!
What? Isn’t this how good friends usually pose for the camera?
